I discovered yoga in 2003 and instantly realized it's healing effects after the very first class. Through the years, yoga became an important part of my self-care regime. I incorporate yoga nidra into my practice and share these powerful self-healing techniques with my students and clients. In 2015, I became a CYT 200 level Teacher under the guidance of my instructors at Cloud Nine Yoga.
I was born into the helping profession and recognized my dharma at an early age. I earned a Bachelors of Arts in Applied Psychology at University of Illinois at Chicago and a Masters of Social Work at California State University Long Beach. I have over a dozen years experience in the field of mental health. For the past few years, yoga and yogic principles have been infused in my work and have assisted me in working with my clients and encouraged my social justice pursuits. I am a Licensed (Independent) Clinical Social Worker in good standing with the Washington State Department of Health and California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I am an Integrative Restoration iRest Level 1 Teacher-in-Training. iRest is a contemporary form of the ancient practice of yoga nidra meditation. Yoga nidra means “Sleep of the Yogi”. Yogis have used meditation for generations to help restore the body, mind, and spirit. iRest was created to synthesize the gurus' knowledge of yoga nidra into a model that was practical and accessible to everyone who desired its benefits. It is an evidence based practice, which means it is clinically proven to help reduce stress symptoms such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, and chronic pain.
